I loved Halloween when I was a child....all the smells, stories, imagination, costumes, etc.  I lived in Rhode Island when I was a little girl, and I will never forget the piles of leaves, colors, smell of the earth, fog, and amazing feeling of it.  I can still smell those leaves over my head!!!

Sharing a layout (lo) using the Scraps of Darkness (SOD) October kit "Dance Macabre".  This was taken last year, and the little ones with masks on are my 2 Grandsons.  Even though you can't see their faces, I hope they will enjoy the memory I have created for them in the future.

I started with the border paper from Carta Bella included in one of the Paper Add Ons.  I fussy cut around the inside of the border, so that I could mount it on the background paper that I've chosen which is from G45 "Rare Oddities" which was included in the Main Kit.  I inked around both the inside and outside of the papers so they would stand out.  I really don't like the white showing through from the core of the paper when you cut it.  I stamped in various places on the background for some grunge effects.

I began layering my mats for my photo.  My bottom mat I punched from Martha Stewart on the top and bottom of the mat (orange).  I layered another paper from last year's kit and then used a mat with the cutest witch which was included in one of the Paper Add Ons.  It's from Echo Park "Hocus Pocus".  I used black Stickles in various places on her dress to jazz it up a bit.

We got some real cool embossing powder from Stampendous called Embossing Tinsel in "Vintage Olive" which I used on the circle chain chipboard from my stash.  I cut the chipboard into 2 pieces so that I could use it in separate places.

I fussy cut around a little flower spray that was in one of the Paper Add Ons.  I put some tulle behind it and then glued the cutest resin owl that my dear, sweet friend gifted me from her shop, Reneabouquets.  Thank you so much my dear friend.

There are 3 little tags peeking out on the left side of the lo, which came from last year's kit.  I always feel the fun part is when you get to start adding the embellishments.  About 4 years ago I bought these gorgeous handmade flowers from Renea Harrison at her Etsy shop Reneabouquet.  They are the lovely black, tan, and orange harlequin flowers you see at the top left and bottom right.  On the bottom right I used a black flower, tulle, and Renea's flower and then tucked in a G45 chipboard tag from the Main Kit.  The little raven is from a last year's Halloween kit, which I just used black gesso on.  I also used some black and orange twine to make a little bow that sits behind the flower cluster.

In the top flower cluster.  I used black pearl cotton for the little bow and another gorgeous Petaloo flower from my stash.

It's cold and flu season around here, and I have the sniffles, so I better go put on some homemade chicken noodle soup, curl up under my blanket, and cuddle with the puppies.  I hope you enjoyed your visit.  I am always so glad to have people take the time to stop by.  Only 9 days till Halloween!!!  Can't wait.  Remember SOD kit subscriptions can be purchased here:  http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc  Join us on Facebook at:  https://www.facebook.com/pages/Scraps-of-Darkness/357265887693290
