Final October Layout for Scraps of Darkness

Hello dear friends!  I am sharing with you today my final layout (lo) using the October Scraps of Darkness (SOD) kit.  The photo is of my daughter, Jennifer and my 2nd grandson, Cameron.  It was taken about 3 years ago.  Aren't they adorable together?  Cameron is definitely a Momma's Boy!

I started by using clear gesso instead of gel medium this time.  I got a rough texture not the normal glazed feel.  Fortunately, I didn't use much ink or paint, I'm not sure it would take as well on the gesso.  I inked around the edges and used a mixed stitches stamp to create a border. I used Dylusions spray ink in "Squeezed Orange" to add some color.  Then I made some paint splatters around the center with black ink.

I created lots of layers using tags I made, and a die from Cheery Lynn that is the circle wreath.  I also used the beautiful Prima Pineapple Doily die that you see in black.

There was a very cool K & Company chalkboard sticker from one of the kit Add-Ons, which I used as the bottom mat for the photo.  I created 2 other mats that I distressed and inked around the edges.  Before I glued everything down I used a piece of cheesecloth between the mats to give a creepy, Halloweeny look.

Once I had the layers all glued down I started to add the beautiful flowers.

I did some stamping around the center of the layout to give it a little dimension.  Finally I added some little black jewels scattered around to give it a little bling!  I went a little crazy with the watered down gesso that was the last thing I used around the edges of the doilies, tags, etc.
