First Layout (lo) for November using Scraps of Darkness (SOD)

Hello dear friends!  I have my first lo to share using the SOD November kit "Amy Amazing Autumn Kit".  Oh my goodness!!  This kit is so full of my favorite everything.  The colors are stunning and some of my all time faves.  There is the Bo Bunny "Enchanted Forest", Simple Stories "Pumpkin Spice" and Reminisce "Autumn Forest".  I'm in heaven!!!

My lo is of my sweet grandson, Chase, when he was 15 months, and we visited one of the farms in the Matanuska Valley that holds a Fall Festival every year.  You go pick your vegetables in the field and then pay for them at a reduced price.  In these photos he is running around through the pumpkins that were picked and laid out for the little ones.

My inspiration for this lo came from the Blue Fern Studios sketch for this month.  I started with the background paper from Bo Bunny and included in the Main Kit.  I sprayed some mist from the Color Add-on "Carved Pumpkin" and lightly dabbed some of the color as I only wanted a hint.  I stamped around the edges of the paper and in the center around my focus.  I did some ink splatters in two different colors to add some whimsy.

I started to build the top part of the photo with various papers included in the kits, cutting the strips 3/4" to 7/8' wide.

I started building up the photo collage using one of the paper bags that Melinda puts in the kit to hold the Add-Ons.  The mat behind the photos is from my stash.  Once I got the piece centered, I tucked a ripped piece of corrugated cardboard to tuck under the bottom and on the left side.

The cute chipboard pennants were part of the Elements Add-On.  It adds so much color and design, almost too much, but I love it!!

I used the gorgeous sunflower included in the Main kit with the velvety leaves that came in the Floral Add-On.  There are some many color variations in those leaves.

There is a Bo Bunny paper included in the Main Kit covered with butterflies.  I fussy cut three out and placed them in the three flower clusters.

On the top left cluster I used a bigger butterfly and the Chunky black glitter that was included in the last month's kit.  The other two flowers I used are in the Floral Add-On.  On the right hand side I sprinkled microbeads that I got from Reneabouquets.  I also sprinkled the beads in various places around the lo.

The chipboard title is from my stash, which I just inked in a dark brown and used more micro beads.  I also sprinkled some Prills from another SOD kit.  As you can see the gel medium is still drying, but I promise it will be clear!!!  I was in such a hurry to get these photos taken I just didn't have the patience.  I found you CANNOT use the heat dryer to dry the medium.  It will stay white if you do.

This is such a bright, busy lo, but so much fun for the photos.  I hope you like it!  If you are interested in joining the Scraps of Darkness kit club you can purchase the kits at:

Thanks so much for stopping by!  We are expecting 4-7 inches of snow on Sunday.  I am so excited, we didn't get very much last year, so everyone is thrilled.

Big Alaska Bear Hugs xoxo
