August 2nd Design Tech Layout (lo)

Where has the week gone???  I know I got the crud from my son, and have been home feeling lousy for the last 2 days.  I hate the punies!!  Haven't felt like doing much...but did manage to get the photos of my latest lo using the Scraps of Darkness August kit "Kathy's Nature Trail".  It's a photo of our cat "Jake".  Now Jake is a very cool cat, so cool, that we took him camping with us this year.  This photo was taken of him in the early morning sunlight after he had done his perimeter check of our camp site.  We had him on a leash with a harness, but he managed to squirm his way out.  He always came back to our tent, so we stopped worrying.  He is definitely a people cat, so we were worried another camper would pick him up and take him home.

I put a layer of gel medium down on the background paper so that it would work better with the paints.  We got a really cool Prima stencil in another kit of the flowers, so I used modeling paste to form the little garden of purple flowers.  I sprayed the background with Shimmerz "Punked Up Purple", added water to make it mottled and toned down.  Then I went back and hand painted another layer of the same mist over each one of the flowers.

You can also see the splatters of gesso mixed with water that I did.  After I inked around the page with Prima's Quick Dry Fluid Chalk ink "Moss Lawn", I rubbed some into the bottom of the page to give it some depth.

There was a very cool paper from Kaisercraft's Botanica Collection in one of the paper add-ons for the kit which I cut up, and layered, then inked all the edges with the Distress Ink "Forest Moss" that is included in the Creativity add-on.  I double matted the photo with other papers from the kit.  Once I got those glued down I started to have fun with the embellishments.  I used some dies that are in my stash and cut them out of gold paper.  I also cut the little green foliage out and then used Faber Castell's "Texture Gems" in white to create the little pearls on the ends.  It's very cool stuff.

And here are some other close ups.

Thank you for stopping by, and hope you have an awesome weekend.  I just hope that I feel better so that I can move onto the next layout using my amazing kits from SOD.  If you are interested in purchasing a kit or joining on the fun, inspiration, etc., with our Facebook group here are the websites.
