Hello dear friends from the Far North!! Summer is fading fast, even thought the temps have been higher than normal, you can feel that Fall is right around the corner.
My layout (lo) that I am sharing today is the 1st for this month using the Scraps of Darkness August kit named for me "Kathy's Nature Walk". It is filled with Bo Bunny "Heritage" collection and the gorgeous Kaisercraft "Botanical" collection. They are both perfect for pictures of Alaska, camping, and, of course, my grandsons. Here they are climbing, their favorite pastime!!
I may have overdone all the embellishments, but I just couldn't help myself, LOL!!! I started by using a piece of corrugated paper as the base, then I began ripping some of the papers until I got the look I wanted. I added some joint tape for texture. Then I started to lay down some rough twine on the bottom of the page into loops.
I used matte gel medium to hold it in place using just a few places. Next I matted and layered the photos. There are some really cute little squares in all different sizes included in the kit from "Misc. Me" that were perfect for the layers. There are some adorable Prima resin owls from the kit. I hand painted one...and I'm not that great so don't look close LOL!
The add ons to the kit "Elements" and "Color" included some Blue Fern chipboard and Viva patina paint, plus the cutest little prills. I used all of them to treat the deer and squirrel. Look at how the paint glimmers!!!!
The little squirrel looks different because I used Lindy's Stamp Gang embossing powder "Twilight Bronze Slate" (from previous kit) after I painted it. I then painted it again with the Viva patina paint. When I used the prills, they ended up looking like polka dots!!
Once I got everything glued down I started adding the flowers from the Floral add on with a few mixed in from my stash. I tucked in some leaves and then looped some left over threads from a piece of burlap that I saved.
I left the flowers naked to give a more natural feel to the lo.
That's it for me today. Gotta run to work on my next lo using this wonderful kit. Thanks for stopping by! If you are interested in joining our group on Facebook or purchasing our kits here are the links!
