Hello dear friends!!! So glad that you stopped by to see me! It's been another hectic 2 weeks at my "real" job, so I haven't had as much time to play as I would like.
Today I am sharing another layout I created from the September Kit from SOD "Tanya's Industrial Odyssey". My dad past away in 2003, and I have been putting together a collection of his photos for my family. This photo was taken when he was in boot camp for the Navy. He is only 18 years old in this pic. I apologize for the quality of the photo, but it's the best I have.
The kit is full of Marion Smith and Kaisercraft's awesome papers. I used the "Time Machine" collection for my background papers. I ripped two layers of the teal and black for the top papers. then I splattered some paint Prima's "Gold Foil" and Lumiere's "Pearl Turquoise". I had to water down the Lumiere to get the right consistency to "splat".
I had in my stash the coolest woven straw strip in teal that was perfect to tuck between the layers of the background layers. I glued down the same material to begin the layering behind the photo.
There is a paper included in the kit with various ATC sized rectangles. I cut them apart and began layering a base for the photo. I also fussy cut a couple of clocks to tuck into the layers.
I used this wonderful chipboard skeleton clock from my stash that I love to used to anchor the photo. I inked the bottom layer with Prima's fluid chalk in "Dark Bark" and then added touches of "Teal Damask" to get a patina look. Added a piece of cardboard behind the photo to make it pop up for dimension, distressed the mat behind the photo and adhered it to the layers.
I love the die cut set from Donna Salazer that is cogs. I cut out a few little cogs and placed them around the layers. I added a little metal charm from my stash to give it some embellishment.
Next came the fun part! Melinda Kelly (owner of SOD/SOE) included in the Elements Add On some fabulous Stampendous "Encrusted Jewels" that I used to sprinkle around the layout to give it a little bling and depth. I also used it on the "Life" chipboard title. I used gel medium to get the sparkle glued down.
Love this layout and hope you do too! That's it for me....gotta play some more. You can find the links to our kits below, and our Facebook page below. Please come and enjoy the fun, and maybe get some inspiration for your next project.
