Winter has finally made its way to us. It is 15 degrees F outside, and we actually have some snow!!!! It’s so beautiful!
Oh my goodness, the new Scraps of Darkness January kit “Beloved” is available. You would not believe how fabulous it is. The theme this month is Valentine’s Day and Love. You know what that means? Flowers, flowers, lace, hearts, butterflies, and all the pretty goodies that we love to use on our layouts (los). The kit is filled with the gorgeous Graphic 45 “Mon Amor” collection, as well as Bo Bunny’s “Love and Lace” with a touch of Kaisercraft “Ma Cherie” added to spice things up. It is GORGEOUS!!!
So, here we go with my first layout. Yep, that’s me and my Hubby taken about 2 years ago. Aren’t we cute? Should be after 42+ years of marriage. Boy, did I have fun gussying up this one!!!
I used a Bo Bunny paper from the Coordinating Paper Add On for my background paper. I distressed the edges, stenciled the background (just a tad) and stamped around the layout.
I used a Blue Fern chipboard frame that came with an older kit, painted it black, then heat embossed it using Melt Art Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel in Clear to get a high gloss finish. I created two backgrounds to tuck behind the frame with papers from both the Pattern Paper Add On and Coordinating Paper Add On kit.
I matted my photo first with black cardstock, then the houndstooth washi tape included in the Main Kit.
I adhered to the background a punched border for the left side of the chipboard frame using paper from the Pattern Paper Add On. I used the remnant on the top left hand corner to add a little interest.
Back to the chipboard frame…included in the Elements Add On is Bo Bunny’s “Love and Lace” noteworthy diecuts, which I used in several places. I cut one in half that has scalloped black lace edges and placed them behind the chipboard frame on the top and bottom.
I used another diecut over the bottom center of the frame below the photo. I made a little black lace bow and then placed a sweet little pink flower from the Main Kit in the center.
I used one of the G45 cutout cards from the paper collection of the romantic couple on the right side of the photo. It just blended so well with the photo and mats.
I created 2 sweet flower clusters for the top of the photo. For the left side I fussy cut a butterfly from the Kaisercraft paper (from the Coordinating Paper Add ON), used Stickle “Black Diamonds” to give a little sparkle. I did the same thing to the butter at the bottom right of the lo.
The majority of the flowers used in the clusters came in the Main Kit and the Floral Add-On, and Creativity Add On. The color combination just so happens to be my favorite, Pink and Green.
