Scraps of Darkness February "Heirloom" Layout

Hello Dear Friends!!!  I hope this blog finds everyone having fun and enjoying a scrappy weekend!!  I'm still fighting a virus that will not give up.  The worst part is that it is causing me to have extreme vertigo, which is not fun.  But, enough about next layout features photos of me when I was about 4 years old (maybe 3).  I looked like such a happy little girl, wonder what happened (LOL)!!  The photos were really damaged, but they are dear to me anyway.

I started with a beautiful striped distressed paper I have had in my stash for at least 7 years.  It was one of the first paper collections from Basic Grey called "Sweet Pea".  Back then I wasn't too fond of the old distressed look, so I never used it. For the next background layer, I used a gorgeous paper from Blue Fern Studio that was included in our Main Kit.  I punched along the edges with a Martha Stewart punch that I have never used.  It's butterflies, and I thought so sweet and frilly it would be perfect for the layout.  Next, I adhered this stunning ribbon which came in the Elements Add-On.  It's Panne Velvet from C'est Joli! of Paris.  Ooo, La, La, is it beautiful, all crushed and old looking.  I layered on top of it a trim that I have had for ages.  It has a perfect shade of pink that really adds to it!  I used the new stencil from The Crafter's Workshop included in our Elements Add On with some modeling paste to add texture to the background.

I have these amazing chipboard doilies that I got from a Polish Company that were perfect to frame the photos.  I created flower clusters with other chipboard from my stash and added some of Renea Harrison's butterflies that were included in a previous kit.  The beautiful brown flower came in the Floral Add-On, and the pink were included in last month's Floral Add-On.

Last I added a title tag from my stash that is also ancient.

So the theme for this layout is using the beautiful SOD kit and other goodies that are old, rare and still beautiful.  I really hope you enjoyed visiting me today.  It was good to have you here.  Please leave me a comment to let me know you stopped by.

Kit subscriptions are available at:  We also have a wonderful SOD Store, where you can purchase lots of other scrappy items.  I hope you will join us.

Take care and have an awesome week!
