Layout for Scraps of Darkness April Kit

Gosh, it's been over a month since I last posted.  We skipped the month of March for our kits.  Melinda Kelly, our owner, was moving from New Jersey to GUESS WHERE???  Yep, she has moved to Alaska.   The irony is I moved from New Jersey in 1971 to this Great State as well.

Our kit this month features the beautiful Graphic 45 paper collection "Cityscapes" and Kaisercraft's "Story Book Collection"  I absolutely LOVE both of them.  Here is my first lo of the month of my sweet Grandson, Chase.  It's his second unofficial 1st grade picture.  He is such a goof, he likes to raise his eyebrows and open his eyes real wide when taking pictures now.  Drives me crazy LOL!!!

I started with the blue paper from G45 included in the Pattern Paper Add On and ripped the edges of off-white Kaisercraft paper.  I flicked a few spots of white and black ink on the background.  Then I mixed blue paint with modeling paste to get a rich teal blue paste that I adhered using the new Dusty Attic stencil.  I splattered more black and white ink and then covered random places around the layout with joint tape.  I splattered more black ink.

I used several mats for the photo including a G45 card included in the Elements Add On.  I also cut a clock in half which is a die cut from the Story Book Collection Die Cuts packet included in the Elements Add On.  I glued the clocks to both sides of the photo mat.

I created a circle of twine, tied it on the right edge.  Next I added little wooden stars, and two little burlap tags.

I cut a blue tag from the Pattern Paper Add On for the far left side and tucked some cheesecloth behind it.  I used a piece of corrugated cardboard and then added a bunch of goodies.  I first cut a long banner tag and then adhered snap tape I found at the local fabric store.  I had these cute little metal clips that hang which I placed between the snaps.  I then clipped various tags included in the kit to each of them.  I really like how fun this turned out.

Do you see the cute little metal oval "25" tag?  It was included in the Main Kit.  As you probably noticed I looped some orange cording around the layout and used more little wooden stars to hold the loops down.

Last I created a little collage at the top right of the page.  I used a tag included in the Main Kit and cut two little strips of paper which I punch with a notebook edge.  Last I added a little wooden globe piece to symbolize for Chase that the world is his for the taking!!!

So glad that you stopped by today, and I hope you will leave a comment for me.  If you are interested in the Scraps of Darkness/Scraps of Elegance kits please visit our Store located at:
