Can you say SUMMERTIME??? Yep, I think it is summer in Alaska with temperatures up to the 70's. We have definitely had some glorious weather!!
I am sharing today my first layout (lo) with the beautiful SOD May kit, Soulshine. It is filled with Blue Fern Studio "Serenity" and Prima "Salvage District" papers and embellishments. Simply delish!! The photos are of my Mom and Dad taken around 1952. They had just gotten married in Oklahoma City. She was 17 and he was 19 years old. They look so young.
I started by using a gorgeous paper for the background from BFS included in the Main Kit and Tim Holtz's "Victorian Velvet" Distress Ink to shade the background. I ripped a page from an old book, used BFS pink paper from a previous kit to create a mat for the photos. I just received my new dies from Anna Griffin and cut out two pieces from white cardstock to frame the mats. On the pink mat I used a photo corner that is included in the Prima Ephemera packet in the Main Kit.
I purchased the circle chipboard from the Scraps of Darkness/Elegance from the store located here: http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/ I used Stampendous Aged Embossing Powder in Pink on it. It has touches of gold glitter which I love!!!
Now comes the real fun, adding the embellishments! I used various flowers from previous kits and the Main Kit. I tucked in bits and pieces of lace from an older kit and added a brad from the Elements Add On. I also added pearls to the centers of the lace flowers.
To add just a little something special I used 2 beautiful butterflies that were created by Renea Harrison of Reneabouquets included in a past kit.
I hope you like my layout and thank you for stopping by today. If you are interested in purchasing a kit from our store you can find them at http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc Unfortunately, all of this month's kit and embellishments are sold out. Try again next month!!!
By for now!
