Final Layout for Scraps of Darkness April Kit

It's not been a very good week for me!  Unfortunately, I have been to the dentist and chiropractor most of it, both very painful.  I am sharing today a layout (lo) that I started last week and almost finished.  Managed to get it done today.  The photos are of my son Patrick in his Senior High School Graduation pictures.  The snowy background is typical for Alaska school pictures, go figure LOL!  Can you believe these photos were taken in 1995.  Wow!  Time does fly!!

Let's get started!!  I chose two papers from the Kaisercraft "Story Book" Collection to use as my background.  I used a notebook punch along both sides of the top paper and tore some of the little chads off to get a grungy feel.  Then I used a gold modeling paste with a grid stencil to bring in some linear lines.

I chose another paper from the same Kaisercraft collection which looks like book covers and perfect as photo mats.  Once I got those arranged I added bits and pieces from other papers in the kit to layer under the photos.

Next I started having real fun with some Blue Fern chipboard "Checkered Bits and Pieces" I purchased from the Scraps of Darkness/Scraps of Elegance store, .  I first painted them with the Art Alchemy acrylic paint ("Metallic Steampunk Copper) that was included in the Color Add-On.  I sprinkled three different microbeads on each of the pieces.

I hoard any metal embellishments for my masculine los.  I used three of my favorites, the clocks.  I used them to create little clusters around the layout.  I used some clock cardstock paper behind each of them for a little added umph!  I also added little brads which came in a previous kit from Prima's "Archivist" collection.

And, finally I added lots more beads around the lo and tucked in wads of thread to added texture.
