Last Layout (LO) for Scraps of Darkness (SOD) May Kit

Hey there Paper Peeps!!  I've worked all day to get this layout (lo) finished due to the Memorial Day holiday and being sick last week.  It usually takes me at least 2-3 days to create one, so I hope this one turned out ok.  The photo is my 2 kiddos taken around 30 years ago.  It's so hard for me to believe that they are grown adults with children of their own.

I began creating the lo using 2 separate Blue Fern Studio (BFS) papers that are included in the Main and Patterned Paper Add On.  Printed on one of the papers are these flower borders, which I fussy cut to use at the top of the lo.  I used matte gel to adhere it to the paper.

I used Tim Holtz's Distress Stain "Victorian Velvet" to give the background a soft look.  I splattered black ink lightly around where the photo would go.

One of the papers included in the Pattern Paper Add-On had little cards and tags printed on it which I cut up to form my photo mat.

I used a BFS chipboard piece from a previous kit on the right of the photo.  We got this wonderful Shimmerz TextureZ paste in an older kit which was perfect for the effect I wanted.  I also used a few microbeads in silver on top to give it a little more shimmer!

I used a die and cut heavyweight cardstock in white and then painted it in pewter for the left side of the photo.  It needed more balance.

At the top left side of the photo I used one of the Prima die cuts included in the Main cut.  I placed a sweet little Prima pink rose that came in last month's Scraps of Elegance kit on top.

At the bottom left side of the photo I created a flower cluster using flowers from the Main Kit, ribbon, berries (from my stash) and a sweet little brad that came in the Elements Add-On.

At the top right side of the photo I used a little resin frame (from a previous kit).  I painted it with the gorgeous Art Alchemy paint "Vintage Rose" included in the Creativity Add On.  When the paint was dry I applied some of Frank Garcia's Artisan Powder in black to give it an aged look.  Then I tucked in more flowers from the Main Kit with some more berries from my stash.

The sweet little Prima charm came from my stash.

On the chipboard to the right I tucked in some flowers and added Prills to look like berries.  The Prills can be purchased at the SOD/SOE Store at:

Finally, I "painted" silver micro beads all around the layout.  I really love how it looks.  It's like filling in the gaps.

So, glad that you stopped by today.  I really hope you will leave me a comment, so I can say "hi!"  Remember that kits sell out quickly, so don't hesitate to get yours as soon as you can.  They can be found at:

Have a great week!!!
