Talk about a fun, new kit!! The Scraps of Darkness kit club has the August kit "Safari" available. It is so chocked full of Graphic 45 "Safari Adventure" collection and Kaisercraft's "Into the Wild" paper collection. This kit is perfect for those special zoo photos or other adventures. We have a wonderful zoo in Alaska, but it is nothing in comparison to the wildlife roaming free in our backyards LOL!!!
My first layout (lo) this month features my youngest grandson, Cameron. He is such a little monkey, fearless, and loves to go rock climbing. These photos were taken about 20 minutes from his house, with these wonderful rocky slopes. The photo on the left is the actual distance he climbed from his Momma, and the second is a close-up. I tried to super impose them on one another to look like one photo. Fun!
I started with 2 different G45 papers. I ripped the bright green on the top and bottom and created layers simulating the slopes of the hill. Before gluing the top layer down I glued down black thread to give the lo some texture.
I began assembling the photo mats and various layers using both paper collections. I started with a elephant image from the Safari collection and matted it with frayed burlap. I cut a small piece from the left side of the image and glued it to the far left side of the photo mat.
The black photo mat was created by using an image from one of the Kaisercraft papers and gluing it to the bottom of another Kaisercraft "Into the Wild" paper. Both are included in the Coordinating Paper Add-On.
In the center of the layout I created little layers of G45 chipboards and die cuts. The chipboard is included in the Elements Add-On and the die cuts comes with the Main Kit. I also sprinkled little flowers and created little clusters around the lo. All the flowers are included in the Floral Add-on.
The little zebra strips were cut from the top and bottom of the "I'm Wild About You" phrase. Above the strip on the right top side I used one of the little circle tags included with the Main Kit. I wanted it to blend in better so I used a script stamp and inked around the edges. The I applied one of the circle die cuts from G45 which comes in the Main Kit.
Such a fun, simple layout, sure hope you like it! If you are interested in purchasing our kits or joining our membership club, you can at: http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc
