Alaskan Safari

The leaves are starting to fall off the trees, I see them all over my deck.  I love Fall!!  I'm under the weather right now, so this blog may be a little short this week.

I'm sharing a series of photos of my grandson's riding around their property in their little motorized jeep.  Too cute, they are on their own safari collecting all their rubber balls.

I am using the fabulous Scraps of Darkness August kit "Safari" loaded with Graphics 45 "Safari Adventures" and Kaisercraft's "Into the Wild" paper collections.

I started creating the background of the photos using my 2 favorite papers from the kit from Kaisercraft, the green and orange, which came in the Coordinating Paper Add-On.  First I stamped down the side of the orange paper, then I tucked in some scrap burlap under the green.  I wanted it to look uneven and frayed.  I used another honeycomb stamp that came in a previous kit along the edges of the tiger printed G45 paper in the off center.

I created layers of papers to use under the photos and featured one of the G45 giraffe cards.  I thought it fit in really well.  I tucked under the main mat several strings from the burlap to give it some texture.

I had a piece of barbed wire chipboard from Creative Embellishments, which I embossed with Tim Holtz's Distress Embossing Powder to give it a rusty look.

I fussy cut the cute little giraffe's head to lean over the center photo.  I also used several pieces of little chipboard (Elements Add-On) and G45 die cut tags from the Main Kit in the clusters.  I had a blast using several buttons from my stash.  One of them has Rain Forest etched into it, but you can't see it in the photo.

I created several little flower clusters around the lo using flowers from the Main Kit, Floral Add-On and my stash.   And, finally the title is from the selvage edge of one of the Kaisercraft papers.

I hope that you enjoyed your visit today.  Wishing you a wonder week and check back soon for my next lo with this wonderful kit.  You can purchase our kits at http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc

Take care!
