I am finally on the mend! I got up today for the first time in about 1 1/2 weeks and actually did a little scrapping. So, guess I am getting better. I have another fun lo to share featuring the Scraps of Darkness (SOD) August kit "Safari". It features a photo of the grandbabies. It's not a very clear photo, but I like it anyway.
I used 3 different background papers. The bottom layer is from Kaisercraft's "Into the Wild" Collection, which came in the Coordinating Paper Add On. The red paper is Graphic 45's Safari Collection, and is included in the Patterned Paper Add On, and the top paper is cardstock. I stamped around the areas that I planned on for the photos and used the Blue Fern Studies "Imagine Ink" Mica Colormist in the "Leaf", which was included in a previous kit.
Next, I started to layer several G45 papers to create a collage of jungle whimsy. I really enjoy creating lots of layers, and it is a real challenge for me to come up with the right combinations. I also wanted to feature the G45 papers.
The frame for the picture is a Blue Fern Studio chipboard that is included in the Elements Add On. I gussied it up by first painting it with the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint "Steampunk Copper", which has to be my fave color for this line of paints. I then used the Nuvo Crystal Drops which comes in the Color Add On around the curly corners of the frame. Talk about smooth!! That stuff just glides on like butter! Very easy to use. Next I added little drops of red acrylic paint to some of the little holes around the frame.
I fussy cut the tiger and parrot which are on the left side of the layout from the G45 papers. I used a little chipboard branch from my stash, as well as a little leaf stem and used the Art Alchemy Acrylic Paint "Green Olive" which is included in the Main Kit. The black zig-zag stitching is actually a rub-on from my stash.
At the bottom I crumpled up a piece of burlap and tucked it under the tiger's paw. I also brushed on some of the green mist ink which I used on the background.
Lastly, on the right side of the lo I created a flower cluster using flowers from my stash. I tucked in a little twine bow and added a G45 chipboard piece from the Elements Add On.
