January Scraps of Darkness Kit "Botanique"

My dear friends, hope everyone is staying warm and dry!  It's been very cold the past 2 weeks, with lots of fun hoar frost, which I love!  It coats the trees and makes everything so beautiful, just like a winter wonderland.  This has not been the best 2 months for me.  I caught that awful virus just before Christmas, and can't seem to shake it.  There are so many stages of it...right now I am in the horrible aches and pains, it is hard to move around, which is probably why I haven't been posting for a while.  All I want to do is sleep!

Enough whining and down to the good stuff.  Melinda Kelly, owner of Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance, has put together another fabulous kit this month.  The kit "Bontanique" is filled with lots of Graphic 45's "Nature's Sketchbook" collection, it's all about butterflies, nature, flowers, and ferns.  It's gorgeous!  And the embellishments are to die for!!!  Here is my first layout (lo) of my adorable grandson, Chase at about 1 1/2 years old standing in the carrot fields of a farm in the valley.  You can go and pick what you what, and then you pay for it.  So, much fun!!  Look at the expression on his face.  He isn't potty trained yet, so you can guess what he is doing LOLOLO!!!  I just couldn't resist taking these pictures.  Hope you enjoy the process!

This month a fellow DT member, Laura Gilhuly is holding a challenge with a fabulous sketch, which is what I used to create this lo.  This is a clean and simple lo for me, in order to showcase the G45 papers that are so lovely.  I created the background with 3 different papers included in the Main Kit andmade this fun background.  There is a patterned stripe paper that I cut to create the center panel.  I think it worked out nicely.  Throughout the lo I shadowed each of the pattern papers in black cardstock to make a little black edging which makes the papers stand out individually.  I like the effect.

I cut two large orange and green G45 papers (Main Kit) and layered them in the center of the lo.  I arranged the photos and then placed a chipboard tag that comes in the Elements Add On in the center.  Before I glued the tag down, I knotted some twine through the holes and wrapped them to the back of the lo.  Love how it looks.

The sentiment card on the right center of the lo was cut from another G45 paper.  I used a little tag chipboard at the bottom of the sentiment tag to mount the large beautiful butterfly.  I fussy cut 4 different butterflies from one of the G45 papers included in the Main Kit and used them around the lo.

I created little flower clusters around the lo using those sweet, yellow, burlap daisies from the Main Kit.  The rest of the flowers were from previous kits.  There is a sweet metal butterfly in the top right cluster that is included in the Creativity Add On.  At the bottom left I used another chipboard tag from the Elements Add On and added the year the picture was taken.

Hope you enjoyed seeing how I created this CAS lo.  Come join the fun of our January Challenge.  You can posted your entries at https://www.facebook.com/groups/scrapsofdarkness/

Bye for now!
