Hello Dear Friends!!! We are having such a glorious winter!!! We have had pretty regular snowfalls, which is normal for Alaska, of course! The last 3 years have been snowless....it brightness up the darkness, makes everything look fresh and clean, and feels so tranquil cause it quiets down all the noise!!!!
My latest lo using the January kit from Scraps of Darkness called "Botanique" is featured this week. That's my 2nd grandson, Cameron. He is so moody in this picture, which is pretty typical for him!! Look at those expressive eyes, not a happy little guy to say the least.
I started with the flip side of one of the Simple Stories papers included in the Coordinating Paper Add-On, it's very white with little grey dots. First, I sprayed it with lots of different sprays from Lindy's in different shades of teal and silver. I stamped around the page with various stamps to create a linear focus. I also used some herringbone washi tape in various places. Then, I splattered some orange and black inks. I did the same process to create a border around the page.
I ripped one of the G45 "Plant Kingdom" papers (black) along one side and placed in the middle of the page. I created a photo mat using one of the sentiment tag printed on the "Beautiful World" G45 papers. I layered another sentiment tag on the right side of the lo with 2 other papers from the collection.
I fussy cut a large and medium size clock from a Kaisercraft paper that I hoard just for the clocks"!!! I cut the large one in half and placed it at the top and bottom of the lo.
I created one flower cluster in the center of the page using flowers from my stash. I never thought I would use the large black and white houndstooth flower. Don't you just love it when you can use up what you have. Oh, and they came in a previous SOD kit! I also used a brad and a little twine bow. Next I made two tags and used a G45 chipboard piece (mushroom) from the Elements Add On for one of the tags, and a G45 die cut from the Main Kit (butterfly). On the right side next to the cluster I used another G45 chipboard from the (Elements Add On) and put the word "NOT" on it to go with the "Happy" script chipboard underneath. "Happy" came in a previous SOD kit. I painted it with black acrylic kit (previous kit).
There is a collage on the left bottom side of the photo which I created using the medium clock, a G45 die cut from the Main Kit ("Bee Yourself"), as well as a flower from my stash. I tucked in these cool Ken Oliver Embellishments metal cogs that came in the Main Kit . In various places around the lo I tucked in some black thread nests to give it some texture.
Beneath the collage is the large clock where I adhered a large butterfly which I fussy cut from the G45 "Monarch Majesty" paper. There are so many gorgeous butterflies printed on that paper, just perfect for fussy cutting!! I added another brad for the head.
In 3 different places I used the inter-connecting squares chipboard from my stash. So cool, and fun for a little guy page. I paint these pieces 4 TIMES!!! First I used gesso, then tried Lindys orange mist (too bright), then black ink (wouldn't cover), and finally I painted them with black acrylic paint. Whew! Success!! After I glued them in place, I used silver and clear micro beads inside the cubes. That was fun!
In the center of the half clock on the right I used another Ken Oliver metal clog. And, I added some micro beads around the layout. C'est fini!!!
I am so tickled that you visited me today. Please come back!!
Big Alaska Bear Hugs!
