Dad's First Car

Hello Dear Friends!!

I am so excited to share with you my layout using the Scraps of Darkness May Kit featuring 7 Gypsies.

This kit is all about vintage, junk, and fun goodies, which is why it is call "Attic Finds".  My layout showcases my daddy when he was only 2 sitting on top of a Ford Coupe around 1934.  My dad became a mechanic and fixer of all things.  He was always visiting the junkyards, flea markets, etc., looking for that perfect part for an old car or "great deal".  He was quite a haggler, lol.  So, when I found this paper in the Main kit, I knew it was perfect for this photo.

I first fussy cut around the top layer from a 7 Gypsies paper included in the Coordinating Paper Add On and glued it to another 7 Gypsies paper for the background.  I matted the photo with some ripped cardboard and inked around the edges.  I had a piece of steampunk chipboard in my stash that I thought would look perfect around the photo.  I used the Color Philosophy from the Color Add On first on the chipboard and then used the rust pastes from the Creativity Add On.

I wanted the base of the photo to look like a pile of junk, so I started adding various bits of pieces from the Tim Holtz Ephemera die cuts included in the Main Kit.  I used more of the rust pastes on clogs from my stash.

I put the light hanging down on the right side of the photo, which is the same kind I often saw him use in the garage when looking under the hood of a car.

How can you have a key hole without a key?  There are antique brass keys in the Elements Add On which just fit, that I popped on at the top of the photo mat.

Last, I created the title "1st Car" using the chipboard letters from the 7 Gypsies included in the Elements Add On.

This was such a fun layout to create, and I hope you enjoyed looking.  Stay tuned for more fun from the Scraps of Darkness and Scraps of Elegance Design Teams.  Till next time......
