Halloween Fun from Scraps of Darkness

My dear friends, I have been waiting all year long for October.  Melinda Kelly, owner of Scraps of Darkness, always does Halloween up special for our kits.  Wowza did she outdo herself this time!

I decided that I wanted to do a series of vintage Halloween los to hang on my wall.  I love old pictures for the Holidays.  So this is the first in the series.  I was inspired by my dear friend, Renea Harrison, who did this fabulous lo about 3 years ago.  I've been wanting to make one for me since then.  Thank you Renea for all your inspiration and friendship!

The bottom layer is a paper from the Bo Bunny collection "Wicked" and the top layer is from Simple Stories (Patterned Paper Add-On).  I love the rustic feel of this paper.  I made 3 little tears along the edges of the paper and then I used Martha Stewart's extra fine glitter around all the edges.  I used gel medium to adhere it, it works great!!!  I tucked in bits of lace on one side and a cute spider wide chipboard which came in the Elements Add-on.

I applied gesso where I planned to put my picture.  I splattered silver, black and light grey inks.  Then I created a ton of black thread nests to rest behind the photo mats.

The first photo mat is plain white cardstock, distressed and finished with more copper glitter.  I used an Anna Griffin die to create the ornate black mat.  The last mat is cut from more Bo Bunny paper found in the Patterned Paper Add-On.  I used black glitter around the edges to make it pop.   The little title at the top of the photo is an Anna Griffin die cut from my stash.

At the bottom of the lo underneath the photo I used some black lace which came in a previous kit.  At the top edge I used the beautiful sequined braid which comes in the Elements Add-On.  I tucked in pieces of cheesecloth provided in the Creativity Add-On.

At the bottom left side of the photo I created a flower cluster using various flowers from my stash.  The sweet little orange flower came in an RAK from my dear friend Lisa Novogrodski, who is our Design Team Coordinator.  I used twine/yarn to create a little bow behind the cluster.

At the right of the photo is a little candlestick chipboard that came in the Elements Add-On.  I applied Stickles glitter and Liquid Pearls to make it pop.  Along the bottom of the photo is more cheesecloth.  At the top right corner of the photo I glued a big spider chipboard from the Elements Add-On.  I added lots of Stickles "Black Diamond" to it.  I think he is adorable!

My little witch is ready to frame and enjoy!  I had so much fun creating this little lo, hope you enjoyed stopping by.  I would love to hear from you, so please leave a comment, and stop by again real soon for my next little witch of my Halloween series.  If you are interested in purchasing kits from Scraps of Darkness or Scraps of Elegance, you can purchase them at http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc
