Last Layout for Scraps of Darkness September Kit

WE GOT SNOW!!  Yep!  We had our first snow fall this week (Tuesday).  Only 2.7" accumulation, and then it melted.  But, so what it was gorgeous while it lasted.  When you live in Alaska you either love it or hate it.  I LOVE it!!!  Of course, I have someone to shovel the driveway and clear off the deck....I'm sure I would feel differently if I didn't.

I would like to share with you my last layout for the month of September.  I've been running a little late this month due to my fall, but I know I will make it up this month.  This is a layout of my two darling grandsons taken 2 years ago.  They just ran through the sprinkler, so they look like little orphans.  They aren't really talking on phones, but walkie talkies.  I thought it was so funny how intense they were, and not understanding why they couldn't hear anything.  Too cute!!

I started by using one of the Kaisercraft's papers from the kit as my background.  I always prep my background paper with gel medium (matte) so it will take the colors of the paints, etc., better.  I used 3 different paint mists for the paint splatters in dark brown, teal, and gold.  I then started ripping various strips of paper from the scraps of paper I used in other layouts from the kit.  I added in the woven grass for texture.

Once I got those in the position I wanted, I matted the photo with corrugated cardboard, inked the edges and cut another paper for the inner photo mat.  I distressed around the edges of the photo and mat to blend in with the rest of the layout.  I had a piece of chipboard that I bought from the SOD store some time ago (and still available), which was a border strip.  I cut it up and embossed it with Stampendous "Aged Black Embossing Enamel", from my stash.  (Word has it that this amazing enamel is available in our Elements add-on for the October SOD kit).

I tucked a couple little tags that came with the Main kit between the matted photo to add some interest.  I added a metal spring that was also included in the Main it in the lower right hand corner of the chipboard, and a cute little arrow in the top one from a previous kit.

I stamped around the edges of the layout using the Blue Fern "Widgets" stamp that came with a previous SOD kit.  Once I finished I decided I didn't like the effect, so I used a herringbone washi tape in black and white around the edges.

I cut out the bottom right teal clock design from one of the Time Machine collection papers.  For the top left corner I used a sticker, which I placed on cardstock first and then fussy cut around it to give it more stability.  I cut out more stickers to create a scalloped border around the clock.  (Stickers are in Main Kit)

For the top right hand corner I used a piece of chipboard, used more torn strips, added a metal faucet piece from the Elements Add-On and beautiful flower from the Floral Add-On.

I am in LOVE with Encrusted Jewels from Stampendous.  We got some in the August kit, and I can't stop using them.  You can see various elements around the page, plus some coppery sequins.

That's it for me today!  As always, thank you for stopping by.  And, thank you dear friends for all your love and support.
