September Scraps of Darkness Kit

Have I mentioned how much I love this time of the year?  Absolutely loving every minute of it!  I wish it would last forever!

I have a new layout (lo) to share using the Scraps of Darkness (SOD) September kit "Blush".  The photo was taken at the Radio Station (Armed Forces Radio) in Rota, Spain in 1968.  I was 15 and a dj.  It was the most wonderful time of my life!!!  I was so full hope of dreams.  I did realize quite a few of them, I was a dj in a major market (Philadelphia), I was on TV as a news broadcaster, and I met some incredible people.  But, enough about me....let's talk about my new lo!

I started creating the lo using 2 papers from the Prima "Rossibelle" collection.  I ripped the polka dot one down two sides to create an angle across the page.  I splattered some white ink around the page.  I fussy cut the border on the left side of the page from another Rossibelle paper in the Main kit.   I added some little Prima flowers from the Floral Add-On behind the edge, and added some little seed beads from my stash.

I cut out a frame using an Anna Griffin die cut and burnished it a bit to tone down some of the brightness.  I added some pearls.

I went crazy creating layers behind the photo.  I used various papers and die cuts (from the Main Kit).  I distressed around all the edges and adhered some copper glitter from a previous kit.  I also tucked in bits of lace from my stash.

I used the Blue Fern Studios chipboard which was included in the Elements Add On.  I used Liquid Pearls in copper and pink on it.  Lots of fun!

Next I fussy cut out a gorgeous flower design from another Rossibelle paper, and popped it on top of the photo and layers.  I used more Liquid Pearls here and there to accent the flowers.

You can see that I added flowers (from the Main and Floral Add On) underneath the fussy cut piece.  In the kit was a piece of pink tulle that I added under the flowers, along with a beautiful little pearl and rhinestone button that I purchased from Reneabouquets.  I also added some more seed beads.  The little gold flourish was left over from the die cut frame at the top.

Under the photo I added a script piece of chipboard from my stash.  I heat embossed it with two different Lindy's Stamp Gang powders to give it a rosy glow.

On the left side of the photo I used a little phrase that is a Prima die cut included in the Main Kit.

At the bottom of the lo on the right side I used a Prima die and cut a gold doily.  I used another little label cut from the Rossibelle paper and did some journeling. Then I added 2 more sweet flowers.

C'est fini!!!  I have to admit that I spent a lot of time creating this lo.  But, I thoroughtly enjoyed the process.    If you are interested in purchasing the Scraps of Darkness or Scraps of Elegance kits your can purchase them here:   http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc

Bye for now!
