I'm Really a Mermaid

Hello dear friends!!!  Happy Canada Day to my Canadian friends and Happy 4th of July to my USA buddies!!!  Ahhhhh, don't ya just love long Holiday weekends?  I should be outside enjoying the weather, but no, I'm in my scrap room having the time of my life.

So, you must be wondering why the title for this page?????  The Scraps of Darkness July kit "An Ocean's Tale" has this awesome Graphic 45 "Sea Voyage" paper collection.  So whimsical and fun!  One of the features is, of course, mermaids....perfect for my photos of my daughter, Jenny with her fish last year.  One of the tags in the kit says "I'm Really a Mermaid" which I think is perfect for these photos since she looks so rough and tough.  You gotta check out her hair color and the color of the mermaid images in the fussy cut designs, they are the same as hers.

Let's get started with the background paper from the Patterned Paper Add-On.  I cut the little orange stripe from one of the G45 papers included in the Main Kit.  I glued it 1" from the edge of the paper.  I had to join some of the strips (which aren't perfect).  I centered the large doily from the Main Kit on top.

I matted my photos with G45 paper included in the Coordinating Paper Add-On.  On the right side fussy cut the really neat mermaid from the Main Kit.  Underneath the image I crumpled up some of the turquoise netting included in the Main Kit.  Once I got that into place I glued down the mermaid and added some little gems from a previous kit.

On the right side of the photos I fussy cut another mermaid.  I had so much fun gussying her up!!  First I used one of the Tim Holtz Mechanicals gears included in the Elements Add-On behind her head.  I then placed a gorgeous Frank Garcia "Blue Riviera" flower behind the gear.

At the bottom of her tail I used another flower from the Floral Add-On.  Oh, I added lots of cardboard pieces on the back of the image to make it stand up past the flowers.

Back to the top right side of the lo...I created a flower cluster using flowers from the Floral Add-On and a gear from the Tim Holtz collection included in the Creativity Add-On.  I placed a gem from my stash in the center of the gear.

In the top center I used the chipboard phrase from G45 included in the Elements Add-On.  It is the title of this lo!!!

At the very bottom of the lo I used another G45 chipboard tag and some more gears, both from the Elements Add-On.  And then finally I added little gems around the lo for a little sparkle!

I hope you enjoyed visiting with me today.  Scraps of Darkness kits can be found at http://www.scrapsofdarkness.com/kits/?sort=alphaasc

Take care! xoxoxo
